Mallorca - Cycling paradise in the Mediterranean

Mallorca, a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea, forms the Balearic Islands, along with Menorca, Ibiza and several smaller islands. They all share a pleasant Mediterranean climate which, with average temperatures in March between 13 and 18 degrees Celsius, creates almost perfect conditions for cycling.

Day 1, 12 April 2025

Transfer to your flight to Mallorca!

In the morning, we will leave Slovenia by van for Klagenfurt, where we will catch a flight to Mallorca at 14:05. We will then wait for our luggage and any bicycles, after which a transfer will be organised to our accommodation in Port de Pollenca. There we will stay at the Aparthotel Duva&Spa****, where we will have half-board with breakfast and dinner included, secure underground parking for our bikes, jersey washing facilities, saunas and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The apartments are for two people and each apartment includes a living room, kitchen, bathroom and a twin bedroom.

We finish the day with a debriefing of the next week’s cycling plans and dinner in the hotel’s buffet restaurant.

Day 2, 13 April 2025

First kilometres in Mallorca!

After breakfast, we will first rent and set up our bikes, and then we will slowly start our first bike tour, which will take us to the Capdepera lighthouse at the easternmost point of the island. This initial route is the perfect prelude to the days to come, as it is mostly flat, which makes for a pleasant warm-up.

There is only one major challenge on the way: the climb up to the Monastery of Sant Salvador, located above Felanitx. Those who want to admire the view from the top will have to climb 4.3 kilometres and gain 400 metres of altitude to reach 509 metres above sea level.

Map of the entire journey

What is the weather like on Palma de Mallorca in spring?

The Mediterranean climate, with average temperatures in March between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius, creates ideal conditions for cycling! By the sea, it often warms up to well over 20 degrees Celsius in the sunshine, while at higher altitudes the temperature drops as the altitude rises.

What about in case of bad weather?

In the event of bad weather, routes are adjusted to the weather forecast and alternatives to the planned routes are prepared. Often there is bad weather in the Tramontana mountains, but in the rugged and flat part of the island, the day passes without any precipitation.
