Epic Views, Wild Nature, and Real Cycling Challenges!

This cycling trip is a true adventure for anyone who wants to discover the hidden side of the Balkans on two wheels. We’ll start in Montenegro, where the views over the Bay of Kotor will take your breath away as we ride scenic roads and climb into the peaks of Lovćen and Durmitor National Parks.

From there, the route leads deep into the heart of Albania, where you’ll explore the stunning Theth Valley, surrounded by dramatic mountains and packed with authentic local culture. Beyond the riding, you’ll have the chance to visit traditional villages, stop by historic churches, and enjoy the peaceful, untouched atmosphere that makes this region so special.

Expect unforgettable scenery, steep climbs that will test your legs, and well-earned moments to slow down — like taking in the views over Lake Skadar and the beautiful Crnojević River. This trip is the perfect mix of sport, nature, and culture, and it’s guaranteed to be one you’ll remember for a long time.

Get ready for a real cycling journey through some of the most breathtaking corners of the Balkans — and enjoy every single kilometer along the way.

On average, we’ll ride 100 km per day with 2,208 meters of elevation gain.

Day 1

Welcome to Croatia!

Your cycling adventure begins the moment you land — and we’ll make sure everything is smooth, simple, and stress-free from the start. We offer scheduled airport pickups from: Zagreb Airport at 7:00 AM, Split Airport at 11:00 AM, and Dubrovnik Airport at 3:00 PM.

Once everyone arrives, we’ll head straight to our hotel in Dubrovnik to check in, settle down, and get ready for the week ahead.

In the afternoon, we’ll take you into Dubrovnik’s Old Town, where you’ll have plenty of time to explore at your own pace. Wander through the historic stone streets, take in the atmosphere, and enjoy the views — this is one of those places that truly feels unforgettable in person.

In the evening, we’ll meet for a group dinner, the perfect chance to get to know each other, enjoy great local food, and go over the route plan for the days ahead — so everyone feels confident and excited for the adventure.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Dubrovnik – Often called the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik is famous for its stunning medieval city walls, limestone streets, and breathtaking sea views. With its rich history, lively energy, and postcard-perfect coastline, it’s the ultimate place to kick off an unforgettable cycling journey.
Day 2 - Cycling from Čilipi to Prčanj

The Magic of the Bay of Kotor!

After a relaxed breakfast, we’ll take a short transfer to the village of Čilipi, just outside Dubrovnik — where our first ride officially begins.

Today is all about easing into the week with a fun, coastal warm-up loop. It’s an easy, scenic ride designed to get your legs moving while you soak up the Adriatic views and enjoy the laid-back rhythm of the first day.

If you’re feeling strong and want an extra challenge, there’s an optional longer ride that loops around the entire Bay of Kotor — one of the true gems of the Adriatic. This is where the sea meets dramatic mountains and centuries-old towns, creating some of the most unforgettable cycling scenery in the region. Otherwise, the standard plan includes a ferry crossing, keeping the day comfortable and perfectly balanced.

We’ll wrap up the day the best way possible: with dinner at an authentic local restaurant, great food, and a relaxed evening together.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) – A breathtaking fjord-like bay surrounded by steep mountains, charming stone villages, and historic coastal towns. It’s famous for its postcard views, crystal-clear water, and the incredible contrast of rugged peaks rising straight from the sea — easily one of the most spectacular places to ride (and photograph) in the Balkans.

Day 3 - Cycling from Prčanj to Rijeka Crnojevica

Epic Climb Above Kotor!

Today’s route kicks off with a long, steady climb high above the Bay of Kotor — and the views are absolutely worth it. This is one of those climbs you’ll remember: dramatic scenery, wide-open panoramas, and very light traffic, making it a perfect day to focus on the ride and enjoy the mountains.

The ascent is 38 km long, with two short sections (about 3 km total) where the road briefly levels out or dips slightly — just enough to reset your legs before pushing higher again.

At the top, you’ll have the option to visit the Mausoleum of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, one of Montenegro’s most important historical figures. From there, it’s time for the reward: an exciting descent almost all the way down to Rijeka Crnojevića.

In the afternoon, we recommend slowing things down and enjoying the area with a relaxed town visit — and for the perfect finish, an optional boat ride on Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans. The trip costs around €25 per person and is a beautiful way to experience the region from a completely different perspective.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Mausoleum of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš – A tribute to Montenegro’s famous ruler, poet, and philosopher, remembered as one of the key figures in the country’s national identity.
  • Lake Skadar – The largest lake in the Balkans, known for its peaceful waters, incredible nature, and rich birdlife. A boat ride here is the perfect way to unwind after a big day on the bike.

Day 4 - Cycling from Rijeka Crnojevica to Lohe e Poshtme

Into the Albanian Alps!

After breakfast, we’ll hop into our transfer and drive past Podgorica toward the Albanian border, where we’ll unload the bikes and get ready to ride.

We’ll start with a few flat, easy warm-up kilometers to get the legs moving — and then the real adventure begins. Today’s highlight is the unforgettable climb into Theth Valley, tucked deep in the heart of the Albanian Alps.

You’ll take on a 42 km ascent, surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks, crystal-clear streams, and traditional stone houses that still preserve the authentic spirit of northern Albania. Theth is widely considered one of the most beautiful and unspoiled mountain valleys in the Balkans — a true peaceful escape where time slows down and nature takes over.

At the moment, the village can only be reached by one paved road, which means we’ll return the same way — giving you a second chance to enjoy the scenery and a rewarding descent back out of the valley.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Theth Valley – A remote Alpine valley known for its breathtaking peaks, untouched nature, and traditional mountain village atmosphere. It’s one of Albania’s true hidden gems — quiet, wild, and absolutely unforgettable on two wheels.

Day 5 - Cycling from Lohe e Poshtme to Andrijevica

The “Albanian Stelvio”

The first part of today’s ride takes you straight toward what many cyclists call the “Albanian Stelvio” — the legendary SH20 mountain road, connecting Albania and Montenegro. With its endless switchbacks and dramatic scenery, it’s one of the most exciting climbs in the Balkans and a true must-ride for anyone who loves mountain roads.

At the top, we’ll stop for the classic photo moment — the kind of view that makes you forget the effort it took to get there. Then it’s time for a thrilling descent into the stunning Cemi River Valley, where the landscape opens up and the ride takes on a completely different feel.

From there, we’ll follow the river on a long but beautiful climb, almost all the way to the Albania–Montenegro border. After crossing the border, we’ll finish the day with the final 40 km on mostly flat terrain, surrounded by the towering peaks of Prokletije National Park — an unforgettable backdrop as we roll toward the finish.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • SH20 (The “Albanian Stelvio”) – A spectacular mountain climb packed with switchbacks and wide-open views, often compared to Italy’s famous Stelvio Pass — a true bucket-list road for cyclists.
  • Prokletije National Park – A wild, rugged mountain region known for its dramatic peaks, deep valleys, and untouched nature — one of the most stunning landscapes in the Balkans.

Day 6 - Cycling from Andrijevica to Šavnik

Big Views, Long Descents & Epic Climbs!

After breakfast, it’s time to hop on the bike and get the day started. The climb to our first pass, Trešnjevik, begins right as we roll out of Andrijevica. It’s a steady ascent, and you’ll reach the top after just 18 km — the perfect way to warm up the legs.

From there, the fun begins: you’ll enjoy 40 km of almost nonstop descending toward Kolašin, with fast roads, open views, and that unbeatable feeling of cruising through the mountains.

After Kolašin, we head into the next challenge — a 15 km climb up to the Semolj Pass, a bit steeper and a true “mountain ride” moment. And even after that, there’s still one final push: about 260 meters of elevation gain on the way to our accommodation in Šavnik.

It might sound tough on paper, but don’t worry — the scenery today is so stunning you’ll forget about every single meter of climbing.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Trešnjevik Pass – A beautiful mountain pass with wide-open views and a rewarding climb right from the start of the day.
  • Semolj Pass – A classic Montenegro climb with dramatic landscapes and a true high-mountain feel — the perfect challenge before rolling into Šavnik.

Day 7 - Cycling from Šavnik to Žabljak

Final Stage!

Our final stage begins in Šavnik, where we’ll roll out on quiet local roads toward the breathtaking landscapes of Durmitor National Park. The day’s main challenge is the climb to Sedlo Pass — the highest paved mountain pass in Montenegro, sitting at 1,907 meters above sea level. It’s a true bucket-list climb, with views that get better with every switchback.

After the summit, we’ll ride through rolling terrain across the wide-open meadows of Durmitor, surrounded by dramatic peaks and pure mountain silence. Then comes a rewarding descent down to the stunning Sušičko Lake, a peaceful hidden gem tucked into the landscape.

Next, we climb again past Mala Crna Gora, reaching around 1,900 meters once more — and this time, the payoff is huge. You’ll get an unforgettable panoramic view of the Tara River Canyon, with the river flowing up to 1,500 meters below you. It’s one of those moments that makes you stop, breathe, and take it all in.

To finish the journey, we’ll enjoy one last descent into Žabljak, where our accommodation will be waiting — the perfect ending to an epic Balkan cycling adventure.
