A Cycling Adventure Across Tyrol’s Most Beautiful Mountain Passes!

The Ötztal & Silvretta tour takes you straight into the heart of the Austrian Alps — through massive Tyrolean valleys, glacier-carved passes, and legendary roads where a real athletic challenge meets untouched mountain scenery. Along the way, we’ll take on iconic climbs like Timmelsjoch and the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße, both offering views that will literally stop you in your tracks.

On average, we’ll ride 89 km per day with 2,238 meters of elevation gain. Every kilometer of this tour shows you a different side of Tyrol — from peaceful Alpine villages and green meadows to raw, rocky landscapes high above the treeline. This is where determination meets beauty, and where the mountains bring a kind of calm you can’t find anywhere else.

Ötztal & Silvretta isn’t just a cycling challenge — it’s a true experience, combining the power of the Alps with the feeling of total freedom on two wheels.

Day 1

Welcome to Italy!

Your cycling adventure begins in Venice — and we’ll make sure everything is smooth, simple, and stress-free from the moment you arrive. We’ll pick you up at Venice Marco Polo Airport at 11:00 AM, then head straight into the Alps with a transfer to Merano, where our hotel will be waiting for us.

Once we check in, you’ll have time to get everything ready for the days ahead — bike setup, gear checks, and final adjustments — so you feel fully dialed in and prepared.

In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore Merano and the surrounding area at a relaxed pace, enjoy the mountain-town atmosphere, and settle in before the riding begins.

In the evening, we’ll come together for a group dinner, the perfect chance to get to know each other, enjoy great local food, and kick off the trip the right way.

Day 2 - Cycling from Merano to Sölden

Alpine Classic Kickoff!

Right from day one, we dive into a true Alpine masterpiece — the climb to Passo del Rombo (Timmelsjoch, 2,509 m), one of the most iconic mountain passes in Austria.

This nearly 29 km ascent has everything a cyclist could dream of: endless switchbacks, glacier views, and that unforgettable feeling of climbing higher and higher into the sky with every turn. Opened only in the 1960s, this road is considered one of the most scenic passes in the Alps — once an important trading route, and today a legendary link between the north and south of Tyrol.

At the summit, we’ll take in breathtaking views over the Ötztal Valley and stop by the small Timmelsjoch museum, dedicated to the history of the pass. Then it’s time for a long, smooth descent down to Sölden, a famous Alpine hub that will be our base for the next two days.

We’ll wrap up the day with a well-earned dinner at a great local restaurant.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Passo del Rombo / Timmelsjoch (2,509 m) – A legendary high-mountain pass with epic switchbacks and glacier scenery.
  • Sölden – A lively Alpine resort town surrounded by peaks, known as a gateway to some of the best mountain roads in the region.

Day 3 - Cycling from Sölden to Ötztaler Gletscherstraße

007 Glacier Ride: The Highest Roads of Ötztal

Stage two brings something truly special — a ride that feels straight out of a movie. Today we climb the legendary Ötztaler Gletscherstraße, one of the highest paved roads in Europe. And yes, the nickname “007 Road” is real — this is where scenes from the James Bond film Spectre were filmed, with Bond racing through a surreal glacier world high above Sölden.

The climb starts right from the center of town and quickly rises above the valley, pulling us into a world of switchbacks on the way up to the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. At over 2,800 meters, we’ll ride through the famous Tiefenbach Tunnel — a 1.7 km mountain tunnel that connects the two glaciers. Rolling through it feels like riding straight through the heart of the mountain.

On the other side, the views are unforgettable: white glacier domes, deep blue skies, and a quiet high-alpine atmosphere broken only by the wind — pure Ötztal magic.

We finish the day with a long descent back to Sölden, followed by a great dinner and that unbeatable feeling of earning every view.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Ötztaler Gletscherstraße (“007 Road”) – A legendary high-altitude climb made famous by James Bond: Spectre, offering dramatic switchbacks, glacier scenery, and one of the most unique rides in the Alps.

Day 4 - Cycling from Oetz to Prutz

Glacier Road Glory!

After a morning transfer from Sölden, we arrive in Oetz, a charming Alpine town at the entrance of the Ötztal Valley. From here, we take on one of Austria’s most spectacular mountain roads — the legendary Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße, a true panoramic masterpiece that climbs all the way up to a glacier.

We start by riding through peaceful villages, then the road pulls us deeper into a dramatic glacier valley where the real climbing begins. From there, it’s a big one: a 35 km ascent with around 1,800 meters of elevation gain, finishing at the Kaunertal Glacier (2,742 m).

The route is pure Alpine magic — winding past turquoise lakes, waterfalls, and high mountain meadows, until we reach the world of rock, ice, and “end-of-the-road” glacier scenery.

The Kaunertal climb is the full Alpine experience: from a calm valley floor to a high-altitude landscape where it feels like the mountains fade into snow and sky. After a well-earned break at the top, we’ll enjoy a long descent back down the same road and continue to Prutz, where we’ll wrap up the day.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße – One of Austria’s most breathtaking glacier roads, famous for its long steady climb, turquoise lakes, and epic high-altitude views.

Day 5 - Cycling from Prutz to Schruns

Silvretta Scenery Day!

From Prutz, we ride along the Inn River Valley toward Landeck, a historic town that has connected important Alpine routes for centuries. After a short warm-up through Pians, the road starts to climb into the beautiful Paznaun Valley, leading us toward Ischgl — a world-famous ski resort with a lively Alpine atmosphere.

From Ischgl, the route turns toward the mountains and brings us up to the stunning Kops Reservoir (Kops Stausee, 1,800 m) — a high-altitude man-made lake surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Silvretta range. It’s one of those places where you stop, look around, and instantly feel how massive the Alps really are.

From the lake, we descend toward Partenen and continue into the Montafon Valley, where the scenery shifts into classic Austrian mountain charm — green slopes, wooden houses, and a peaceful Alpine vibe. Passing through St. Gallenkirch, we roll into Schruns, a cozy mountain town at the foot of the Silvretta.

For anyone with extra energy, there’s an optional extended loop: a scenic climb over Sibertal and Innerberg (17 km, +500 m) with panoramic views above the Montafon Valley, followed by a fun descent through Daneu back to Schruns.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Kops Stausee (1,800 m) – A spectacular high-mountain reservoir surrounded by Silvretta peaks, offering some of the most scenic views of the entire tour.

Day 6 - Cycling from Schruns to Bregenz

One Last Ride!

Our last riding day starts in Schruns, and after breakfast we roll through the beautiful Montafon Valley toward Bludenz, a town sitting at the meeting point of three Alpine valleys. The route begins with a comfortable warm-up on flatter roads — before we take on our final big challenge of the trip: the climb to Furkajoch Pass (1,761 m), one of the most scenic (and toughest) passes in western Austria.

This climb is a real finale: 21 km long with 1,280 meters of elevation gain, winding through forests and open mountain pastures. At the top, we’re rewarded with stunning views across the Bregenzerwald mountain range — the perfect “we did it” moment.

From the pass, we enjoy a long descent down toward Au, then continue the final kilometers to our finish in Bregenz, right on the shores of Lake Constance (Obersee) — the ultimate place to end a week of epic Alpine riding.

We’ll wrap things up with dinner and a relaxed evening by the lake, celebrating an unforgettable tour together.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Furkajoch Pass (1,761 m) – A stunning and challenging Alpine pass with a long climb, big elevation gain, and beautiful views over the Bregenzerwald region.
