Stunning Austrian landscapes, historic towns, and unforgettable experiences

Our route takes you through the picture-perfect scenery along the Mura River, where you’ll soak up the outdoors, explore charming small towns in Austria, and discover hidden cultural gems along the way. The ride starts in the mountains and gradually descends into lower valleys, leading you all the way to historic destinations like Murau, Knittelfeld, Bruck an der Mur, and Graz.

Along the way, you’ll have plenty of time to visit museums, wander through town centers, and enjoy the best of local Austrian cuisine. To top it all off, the trip ends with a special highlight: the ceremonial opening of Radgona sparkling wine—the perfect finale to an unforgettable cycling adventure.

On this trip, you’ll ride an average of 68 km and 306 meters of elevation gain per day.

Day 1

Welcome to Austria!

Your cycling adventure begins in Salzburg — and we’ll make sure your arrival is smooth and stress-free. We’ll pick you up at Salzburg Airport at 12:00 PM, then head straight into the city to check into our hotel and get settled in.

In the afternoon, we’ll take advantage of the time to explore Salzburg at a relaxed pace. You’ll have time to wander through the charming streets, take in the views, and soak up the city’s unique mix of history, music, and Alpine atmosphere.

In the evening, we’ll meet for a group dinner, where we’ll enjoy great local food, get to know each other, and go over the route plan for the days ahead — so everyone feels ready and excited for the adventure.

Day 2 - Cycling from Muhr to Murau

Your First Ride Along the Mura!

After breakfast, we’ll hop into a comfortable transfer and head out across beautiful Austria — with everything organized, so you can relax and enjoy the start of the journey.

Our first destination is Hohe Tauern National Park in the Lungau region, where the Mura River begins as a calm, crystal-clear mountain stream. From here, your cycling adventure officially kicks off. We’ll ride along the river, surrounded by fresh Alpine air and stunning scenery, gradually descending toward Tamsweg and continuing on to our finish for the day in the charming town of Murau.

Murau feels like a true Austrian hidden gem — full of historic character, scenic surroundings, and that cozy “storybook town” atmosphere.

And if Formula 1 isn’t your thing — no worries. You’ll have great alternatives too, like visiting a fascinating railway museum or checking out Austria’s largest carnival museum, where you’ll get a fun look into local traditions and culture.

The mountains slowly fade behind us, and the landscape opens up into softer, greener hills and wide valleys — perfect for a relaxed, enjoyable day in the saddle.

In the afternoon, we’ll have the chance to visit Bruck an der Mur, a town known for its peaceful riverside atmosphere and a great place to slow down and soak in the local vibe. Day 5 - Cycling from Bruck an der Mur to Graz

Rolling Countryside to the Buzz of Graz!

We’re officially heading into the second half of the journey! This morning, we’ll leave Bruck an der Mur behind and continue toward our next big destination — the familiar name you’ve probably heard before: Graz.

Today’s ride takes us through classic Austrian countryside, passing peaceful landscapes filled with farms, orchards, and open views. We’ll cycle past the charming town of Frohnleiten, and before long, the surroundings start to feel more lively and populated as we get closer to the city.

Once we arrive in Graz — Austria’s second-largest city — the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Graz is vibrant, welcoming, and full of personality, with great cafés, restaurants, and plenty of cultural sights to explore.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

Day 6 - Cycling from Graz to Gornja Radgona

One Last Ride!

Today is the grand finale of our cycling adventure along the Mura River! This last stage is the longest of the trip — but also the easiest in terms of climbing, making it the perfect way to finish strong. From Graz to Gornja Radgona, you’ll ride 89.2 km with only 110 meters of elevation gain, following a smooth, fast-flowing route through the lowlands.

After the first 50 km, we’ll reach Šentilj, where we’ll cross into a new rhythm of the journey — riding along the Austrian–Slovenian border as we continue toward our final destination. We’ll finish the ride in the most memorable way possible: on the bridge over the Mura River in Radgona, a historic spot that was officially opened back in 1969 by the presidents of Yugoslavia and Austria.

And then… it’s time to celebrate. We’ll toast the finish with the ceremonial opening of Radgonska Penina, the iconic sparkling wine produced right here in the region — the perfect reward after an incredible journey on two wheels.

After the celebration, we’ll load up into the support vehicles and head to Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, where you’ll have the afternoon and evening to explore, stroll, and enjoy the city’s relaxed vibe.

⭐ Today’s Must-See Highlights

  • Gornja Radgona (89.3 km) – The finish line of our journey and the perfect place for a final celebration. We’ll raise a glass of Radgonska Penina, the famous local sparkling wine, and toast to an unforgettable ride along the Mura.

3. The Cycling Trip Experience

3.1 What’s the difference between Self-Guided, Supported, and Supported & Guided trips?

Self-Guided: We take care of logistics (hotels, airport transfers, luggage transport), while you ride independently.

Supported: Everything from Self-Guided plus a support vehicle offering drinks, snacks, emergency repairs, and refreshment stops.

Routes are designed for the average recreational cyclist. These are not races — the goal is enjoyment. Each trip includes a difficulty rating listed at the top of the trip page.

It depends on the trip. Daily distances are listed in the itinerary. You can shorten a stage using the support vehicle or extend it with an optional climb or loop.

Absolutely. Our trips encourage riding at your own speed and taking breaks whenever something catches your eye. Guides are happy to wait for you.
